On 7th March history was created in Los Angeles at 82nd Academy Awards when Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman director who won the Golden Man in Oscar history. The award was for her movie "The Hurt Locker" which she had directed. In 82 years of Oscars history only 3 women directors were nominated for this award who were,
  • Lina Wertmueller for ‘Seven Beauties’ in 1976,
  • Jane Campion for ‘The Piano’ in 1993 and
  • Sofia Coppola for ‘Lost In Translation’ in 2003.
She is also the first woman director to win the Directors Guild of America award for the same movie "The Hurt Locker".
