Latest news is that Shankar has planned to invest a sum of Rs. 125 crores to make this movies into a 3D. This has been planned in order to curb piracy. Endhiran aka Robot is expected to be released before the end of 2010.
Alternatively Superstar Rajinikanth is also doing a animation movie which also will be converted into a 3D movie. The movie name is "Sultan, The Warrior" which is animated by Ocher Studios - Adlabs - Warner Bros venture. It has been rumoured that this movie has already crossed Rs. 600 million in its making.
